Philip E. Stern, Partner and Chair of the Education Law Group, brings more than three decades of experience as general counsel, special education counsel, labor, employment and negotiations counsel, construction counsel, and litigation counsel for universities, colleges, and school districts throughout New Jersey.

Before beginning his legal career, Philip helped found and taught first grade at Kids School in Newark and later taught social studies at Glenfield Middle School in the Montclair School District. Combining his teaching and legal backgrounds, he applies a deep understanding of education’s challenges and values to his representation of educational institutions.

For the past thirty years, Philip has taught education law in Doctoral, Masters, and Undergraduate programs at Montclair State, Seton Hall, Caldwell, and Wesleyan Universities, and has presented extensively across North America as a former President and Board Chair of the North American Association of Educational Negotiators and for numerous continuing education programs. Known for his integrity and respected across New Jersey’s school community and Education Law bar, Philip brings his mentorship and expertise to Taylor Law Group, ensuring our Education Law clients receive the highest standard of support.
